West Feliciana

West Feliciana Parish is home to over 15,000 residents and is located in Central Louisiana. Originally called “Feliciana Parish,” the area became far too populated and had to be divided in 1824, forming West Feliciana Parish and East Feliciana Parish. The parish seat is located in St. Francisville and the area contains the Cat Island National Wildlife Refuge. The Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola is located in West Feliciana Parish. The parish shares its northern border with Mississippi and is located roughly 30 miles above the state capital of Baton Rouge. West Feliciana Parish also shares its borders with Pointe Coupee, Avoyelles, and Concordia parishes.
