Union Parish
Union Parish is located in North Louisiana, sharing its northern border with Union County, Arkansas, and is home to over 22,000 residents. The parish was founded in 1839 and the parish seat is located in Farmerville. Avid fishermen and gamesmen can find a paradise of beautiful lakes and deep woodlands filled with wildlife in the Lake D’Arbonne State Park. Union Parish also contains parts of the D’Arbonne National Wildlife Refuge and the Upper Ouachita National Wildlife Refuge, both of which provide habitats for bald eagles, alligators, and the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker. The annual Farmerville Watermelon Festival attracts locals and tourists alike who enjoy a weekend of fun festivities and all-you-can-eat watermelons.
Nearly 69,000 people suffered injuries as a direct result of motor vehicle crashes in Louisiana in 2013. Additionally, 668 people lost their lives in motor vehicle collisions. Car accidents happen every hour of every day across Louisiana and they can occur for a multitude of reasons. For example, an inattentive driver text messaging while driving could ram into the back of a vehicle due to the driver’s delayed reaction time. Drivers like these must be held liable for their actions and they must pay for any damages that they have caused as a result of their recklessness. It is imperative for people to immediately contact a well-versed personal injury attorney as soon as they find themselves in a car accident in order to preserve their rights.
