Kaplan

Known as “The Gateway to Acadiana’s Coastal Wetlands,” the city of Kaplan is home to nearly 5,000 residents and is located in Vermilion Parish, the self-proclaimed “Most Cajun Place on Earth.” The city is named after its founder, Abrom Kaplan, and was formally incorporated in 1902. Le Musee’ De Kaplan is a historic museum dedicated to honoring the history of the city and its proud Acadian heritage. Kaplan also serves as birthplace to Sammy Kershaw, American country music singer and songwriter and Jonathan W. Perry, Current Louisiana State Senator. Home to many self-identifying Cajuns, Kaplan lives up to its reputation. Every October, Kaplan hosts the Louisiana Cajun Food Festival, where locals and tourists alike can enjoy the sounds of local Cajun music and the smells of local Cajun cuisine.
