Jennings
Situated near the western Louisiana city of Lake Charles, the city of Jennings presently serves as the parish seat of Jefferson Davis Parish and is home to over 10,000 residents. The city was founded in 1888 and is named for local railroad contractor Jennings McComb who was a contractor for the Southern Pacific Railroad and who helped to build the Jennings deport. The first oil well constructed in the state in 1901 was located in Jennings, which bears the moniker “The Cradle of Louisiana Oil.” In addition to the oil industry, Jennings boasts a booming agricultural field, with rice as the primary crop. Locals and tourists alike celebrate the city’s rich culture and history during the annual “Jennings Alive,” which features fun festivities for all. Jennings is also home to the annual “End of the Season Stearman Fly-in,” which takes place every year on the first weekend of October, beginning on a Thursday and ending on a Sunday, and celebrates aviation. The event consists of flying, “flour bombing,” spot landing contests, and formation flying.
The leading cause of injury in Louisiana is motor vehicle accidents, which are responsible for thousands of injuries and hundreds of deaths each year in the state. In Jefferson Davis Parish in 2012, nearly 500 injuries and seven deaths were directly attributable to vehicular crashes. These accidents are simply everyday occurrences, and the causes of these collisions can range from a distracted or drowsy driver to a drunk driver. Apportioning liability in these collisions can oftentimes be difficult due to the complex circumstances that surround the accident. If you ever find yourself in an automobile accident, you should immediately consult a skilled personal injury attorney who can help protect your rights and guide you through the claims process.
