Bossier Parish
Bossier Parish is home to roughly 122,000 residents and is located on the Arkansas/Louisiana state border. The parish was officially founded in 1843 and was named after Pierre Everiste Jean Baptiste Bossier, nineteenth-century Louisiana Creole militia general, state senator, and U.S. Representative from Natchitoches Parish. The parish seat is located in the city of Benton and the largest city is Bossier City, which is home to over 60,000 people. Bossier Parish originally included what are now the parishes of Red River and Bienville, before each became an independent parish in 1871. Part of the Red River National Wildlife Refuge is located in Bossier Parish, in addition to a part of scenic Lake Bistineau State Park, which is home to some of most beautiful cypress trees in the State.
Nearly 69,000 people suffered injuries as a direct result of motor vehicle crashes in Louisiana in 2013. Additionally, another 668 lives were lost as a direct result of vehicular collisions in that same year. Car accidents happen every hour of every day across Louisiana, too often leading to debilitating or even fatal injuries that devastate victims and their families. The causes of these accidents can range from a malfunctioning car part to a driver not paying attention to his surroundings.
