Beauregard Parish
Beauregard Parish is home to over 36,000 residents and is located in Western Louisiana on the Texas/Louisiana border, directly adjacent to Newton County, Texas. Beauregard Parish was formed from the northern part of present-day Calcasieu Parish in 1912 and is named after Confederate General P.G.T. Beauregard, who was also a contributor to the design of the Confederate battle flag. The city of DeRidder, which presently serves as the parish seat, was the first community to be established in the newly-formed parish, and is home to the architecturally noteworthy “Old Beauregard Parish Jail.” Tourists and parishioners alike enjoy the many festivities that Beauregard Parish has to offer each year, such as the Beauregard Parish Fair and the Beauregard Parish Watermelon Festival. The parish neighbors Vernon Parish to the north and Calcasieu Parish to the south.
